Great guide to help find all the nooks and crannies on these beautiful islands. We found more gems in 10 days than most locals find after years on the island. Every day they’d ask what we were up to or where we were going. Their response? “How’d you know about that?” The only add I would suggest is better instructions on how to get to Owl Hole on Grand Bahama. The main road markers were spot on, but you really need a more rugged vehicle than your standard rent car to get there. The trail there is pretty rough and full of limestone that you’ll scrape bottom on. The actual spot isn’t marked, so you won’t know you’re there until,you run out of trail to drive on. From there you have to just get out and explore on foot through the brush. It’s not easy to locate unless you get help,from a local if you’re fortunate enough to find one there. It’s desolate and a little scary out there! My goal? To buy an all but abandoned restaurant on the beach and become listed as one of the “must go to” restaurants in their next revision!

We bought this because we have never been to the Bahamas. It has maps of the islands and is full of info and things to help us get around.I would say yes order this book.

Best book ever! We will not travel anywhere without one of these Fodor books. So helpful, comments were right on, directions were great. Such an amazing book!

For something called Brain Boosters, I expected more complexity. If you teach gifted students and you expect a brain booster to be challenging, avoid this.

Easy to use. Just grab, let a student pick a card and start getting them moving and thinking.

My gifted students enjoy doing this.

Great product! I am a 5th grade teacher and these have been awesome for my students. I originally got them to use as brain breaks, but I have used them for so many other things, like icebreakers, indoor activity time, short challenges, etc. Overall, a good find!

I played this with my family of 4 and had a great time! Our favorite parts included the cards that had you create your own dance moves. It was fun and accessible for all of the members of my family, including my 9 year old niece. Good times!

I'm a proud Nicaraguan and I can appreciate the book for the information into our own Nicaraguan language. I found it funny, realistic and wonderfully truthful. It is missing a lot of other phrases that I grew up listening to and enjoying and actually still us but it does give you a chance to learn to speak and understand how the culture and the language in Nicaragua goes together. As a person who has friends from other countries and they at times do not understand my Nicaraguan spanish I will use this book as a guide to help them keep up with the conversation.

Amazing book! I used to live in Nicaragua (and had a beautiful Nicaraguan girlfriend before I moved there), so with many friends, stories, histories and memories there and a great love for the culture, I really appreciated this e-book. I definitely recognized some of the regional vocabulary words/sayings in there, and I even learned plenty of new ones! I could think of a few that were not mentioned, but hey, 200 or so entries is pretty darn good and it's hard to find anything about Nicaraguan Spanish, let alone this great book chock full of Nicaraguan idioms! I also like Jamison's witty commentaries filled with humor and profound insight as he remarks on the meanings of these words and sayings. This is my "Bible of Nicaraguan Spanish" - not bad for having been written by a gringo! Five stars, all the way!

LOVE, LOVE.LOVED this book. During the 13 yrs. that I spent in Nica. I had always thought that they needed a book of their 'dichos/palabras nicas'. This book is exactly what I had in mind. It really is a must read if you are planning a trip to Nicaagua and would like to understand 'their language'. For me it is helping me rem. the words that are unique to Nica. and it brings back many happy memory's every time I pick it up.

I think it is the best blend of the need of building a data base but with practical info on how to make that happen with prospecting that works for you and your style. This book is awesome for someone who is starting out in the Real Estate sales industry and also for someone who just can't figure out what changes they need to make to make their business grow. It has great ideas on marketing, relationship building, and focusing on the daily basic activites. It's a quick read so don't hesitate in buying. I was afraid this book will just motivate me to keep doing better by giving examples of successful people. But it's the total opposite. It's a successful Broker guiding us how to use our time and plan our daily activities. I gave it 5 stars because it's a simole straight forward book with no drama.

If you are new agent and want real information about how to deal in the trenches, this is a good place to start. Real ideas. Not positive thinking and motivational quotes. Ideas on how to talk to clients, how to position property for sale, how to be creative with open houses. Real tips that yoi can use right away as you get started.

Someone suggested this book, after I lost my 32 year old daughter to cancer. I ordered it, tried to read it, and put it down. It stayed stacked with other books, for two years. The beginning of this year I came across it again, opened and read. Now, I can finally read and appreciate it. It is six days until my daughter's birthday (my Valentine's baby), and this excerpt especially touched my heart. "It surprises us. We know it's a fluke. We know it won't last.Happiness? Contentment? Joy? And not just a quick flash of joy, of contentment--as when we are lifted up on wings of song--or by prayer--or by a spectacular sky--or because of a daisy blooming in some field. But a sense that in some way we are going to be able, after all this, to be happy! Whoever would have thought it?.......It is life calling to us--See, you are mine. I have wonders in store for you, believe it or not. And I will wait for you--beneath the snow, if necessary, and beyond the storm." When I came home this summer from being with my three grand children, I was full of joy and love. A thought came, "Why should I be happy? She is gone, and I'm all alone." I decided right there and then, that I would be happy, period. Was I happy that I had lost my daughter? Never in a million years, nor was I happy with how things happened or turned out, but I chose to be happy in life, despite what had happened, she would have wanted that. Now that I can finally read this book, it has brought smiles and tears and is helping me heal even more. I ordered this because I had just lost my dog. I know this is probably for human loss but I still pick it up after 8 months to find help. I feel that loss is loss and when you have a dog that is your constant companion for 16 1/2 years, you grieve over them as well.

These readings are written by people who also have lost a loved one and they spoke of their agony.It seems I was no longer alone. These people shared the same agony I am still experiencing.OF ALL THE READINGS I HAVE DONE THIS PAST YEAR - THIS WAS THE BEST.! CERTAINLY it doesn't bring my loved husband back but now know I am not suffering alone.I have purchased several of these books for others. I don't write many reviews but this book is so exceptional that I had to write a review. My five year old son died suddenly and accidentally in 2013. I thought my life was over. I am an avid reader and bought every book on grieving I could find to try to help me cope and figure out how to keep living.This little book is far and away my most treasured purchase. If I had to give away my entire library and keep one book, this would be it. The passages are short and easy to read in under five minutes, which is a blessing for those of us dealing with loss of concentration that comes with intense grief. Although short, the passages contain deep, thought provoking, yet simple, gentle and hopeful thoughts for those suffering from devastating loss.I recently went away for a weekend and although packing space was limited, I took this book with me. That is how much a part of my morning routine it has become. It is not overtly religious, so I would feel comfortable giving this book to anyone, from the most religious person I know to the staunchest atheist. It is intelligent and insightful and does not give way to clichés or trite phrases that we hear all too often. I highly recommend it for anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one. I am purchasing additional copies to family and friends who are also grieving.

My aunt read it all in a week, my grandfather picks it up occasionally and skips around and I prefer to read it daily- all ways have led my family to more peace. A must need for people going through hard times and need a little extra boost.

Gret little book of daily inspirations- not too heavy., Many ppl who are grieving might find a book of more substance too tedious. This is light. Read daily or just now and again- when you are in the mood. Start in the middle or from the end..there are no rules. Nice to be able to look up special dates such as the date you lost your loved one or th day you met etc ... Recommended!

My grandmother was given this by a friend whenever her spouse passed. She found a lot of comfort in the book. Recently, a good friend of hers had their son pass and she immediately turned to this book and wanted her friend to have a copy. Just so you know a little bit about her to see if you might have similar taste....my grandmother is 80 years old, a devoted Christian, loves her family and to provide for them, and is a friend to any and everyone. She enjoys cooking, her many cats, and working in her garden.

The Annotated Mona Lisa book is a great tool when studying for Art History on its own or paired with Gardner's Art through the Ages. This book is incredibly helpful in a number of ways. It covers works of art from 25,000BC to the 1980s including the names of the different art periods, the famous artists at the time, and the revolutionary works of the era. Though it chronicles artwork throughout documented human history, just as the title suggests, nevertheless it is a great "crash course" before a midterm, final or an AP test. It definitely does not cover all the famous artists throughout the art eras but it does give the reader an idea of the style, beliefs and culture of the different eras. I recommend this book to anyone who needs a resource that takes a step back and looks at the larger picture of art through time. This tool offers the best ways of learning the essentials in any almost any art history class by providing visual aids, descriptions of authors and their works, and a brief overview of the culture during the time the painting was done. This book is filled with colored and black and white pictures that include important details and depth. Although not all the pictures are in full color, the most recognizable paintings are. For example Van Gogh's Starry Night and Monet's Waterlilies and Roven Cathedral works are in full color. One of the most helpful tools in this book is page 113 which is called "The Post-Impressionist Roundup." "The Post-Impressionist Roundup" is full of the major post-impressionists and ways to identify them by their characteristics. It includes the authors' names, subjects, art signature, moods, concerns, hallmarks and pictures of their brushstrokes. Artists include Seurat, Toulouse-Lautrec, Cezanne, Gauguin, and Van Gogh. The book also has numerous side-notes on the artists' backgrounds and life. There are many other helpful tools like the Romanesque vs. Gothic, Roman mosaics vs. Byzantine Mosaics pages and many more that helps with identification which is the key component in most art history tests. Although there are thorough biographies of artists and descriptions of paintings, there are a few, not many, architecture aids. The aids that are included merely help identify buildings by the different patterns used by different cultures. Each artistic era has a small introductory paragraph of the culture and government of the time and place. Although this book includes the differences between barrel and groin vaults and the differences among the different arches, it lacks structural works of art. The Annotated Mona Lisa is comprised of are about 90% paintings, reliefs, mosaics and sculptures and less than 10% buildings. The works of art that art included are culturally, artistically, historically and formally covered very well covered. Each work has a description of how it was made, why and for whom (if applicable). The Annotated Mona Lisa is a valuable a study tool but keep in mind that this book does not include all the major works of art and should be accompanied by another art history book, like one of the many Gardner books.

I bought this book to prepare for a state required exam for an art teacher certification test. The Praxis Art Content exam is required in my state to become an art teacher. I never had art in my primary or secondary school. It was not until college that I had my first formal art class. I am saying this to give you an idea of my previous experience with art, art history and choosing different art media. Pretty much everything that I knew up to this point was self taught through experimentation or research on YouTube. Even with the lack of experience, I was able to pass the Praxis exam on my first attempt.I only had about a week and a half to study because I was taking test in between semesters. I used this book and an art history video on YouTube to prepare. After I had studied, I used the ExamEdge website to take some practice Praxis tests. Anything that I was unsure about during the practice tests, I went back to this book and studied up on it. There were literally questions on the Praxis test that looked to be pulled directly from this book, word for word.While I bought this book to help me study for an exam, I am still keeping it. I believe that it will be a great resource in my future art classroom. It is also great to use to remind yourself about facts, art movements, etc that you may be a bit fuzzy on. It starts with prehistoric art and moves through Greek/Roman art, the Italian Renaissance and goes all the way through to modern art. It is written simply and doesn't have a lot of high-dollar words that a lot of art critics write with. While complex art language is great to hardcore art lovers, it is sometimes off-putting to your average person. This book is not like that....it is a very easy read. You will not become bored with tons of jargon. All of the important art vocabulary is there, but it is done without being boring or condescending.I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I would buy it again.

For the novice, it is a quick learn hitting all major schools, movements and artists, their place and impact. The presentation is such a delight that it will whet the appetite for more. For the already well educated in art history, it is just a delight and fun read but the diagrams, charts and timelines are perhaps of greatest value . The timelines showing world history and art history side by side are truly invaluable.BUY this book...for yourself, your children, your spouse, your mother, your students and your art loving friends. They will thank you!

I'm an art historian and I used this as my AP Art History study guide in High School. I was considering using it for my undergrads, and while the jury is still out, it's definitely a fun, easily-consumable book that will give you the basics you need to know. A good review for AP tests or for a 101 final review.

This book is good--just not what I expected. I had anticipated that each page would be formatted like the cover--a painting surrounded by annotations that explained the painting. Almost like having a guide in a museum explain what you should be looking at and why it was there. The interior book was nothing like the cover. I was a little disappointed. So just be warned, the cover is a misrepresentation of the book's content.

About the Author

Musa Daĝdeviren is a well-known and acclaimed chef in Istanbul, where he has three restaurants - the first, Çiya, opened in 1987. His foundation, which he runs with his wife, is devoted to rediscovering Turkish culinary heritage, and he publishes his findings in a quarterly journal. He has been featured in international press and regularly lectures at food conferences and culinary schools.
