Very intriguing book that makes you ask questions.

The author presents an excellent argument which should result in a thoughtful reanalysis of the theory. That will never happen since the pro-Darwin camp will never acknowledge the possibility of a creator; however, this book is valuable reading for anyone open to a very serious critique of many aspects of the theory.

This book is a collection of essays compiled and commentated on by Dr. James P Gills and Dr. Thomas Woodward, designed to refute modern science's pervasive allegiance to macro evolution. Each essay is very thorough and most are quite technical. A scientific background is helpful with some of the chapters, especially the Complexity of the Cell and the Design of the Vertebrate Retina (although both establish the entire point of the authors without any other argument necessary.)Chapter 5 offers an excellent synopsis of the most relevant evaluations in this ongoing debate. It provides all the major points of the empirical and philosophical critiques of Darwinism in seed form. If you're looking for just the broad overview, this is your chapter!Chapters 6 and 7 proved to be my personal favorites. Chapter six details the Cambrian Explosion and the Rediscovery of the Burgess Shale both as significant obstacles to current macro evolutionary theory.In Chapter seven, Thomas Woodward puts Dr. Michael Behe's book, Darwin's Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution, up against Darwin's own words in The Origin of Species. Darwin said,"If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down." The discovery of molecular biology brought the concept of irreducible complexity to the forefront of the evolutionary debate. Woodward summarizes Behe's position as, "modern evolutionary theory, applying Darwin's own test, flunks spectacularly at the molecular level."The book's conclusion brings all of the essays and all of the technical scientific data to one spectacular point: "Science in its search for truth has sought independence from dogma, ostensibly religious doctrine, and yet scientists have clung pertinaciously to another doctrine that is so silken and seductive, so integral and unquestioned as to be as much the organizing principle of an entire discipline as an explanatory device of individual instances." The author's point? Evolutionary science has become it's own religion and it's like the Emperor's New Clothes. Can the immovable position of today's scientific community "be interpreted as anything but hesitance to open the eyes and face the deeper truth that obviously shines through the breaks and faults of a thin and fractured surface?"But all is not lost. "As the masses tremble before their god of science and its liturgies of statistics [and] society slumps into alienation," James Gills reminds us of the Truth and opens the door for grace; the intelligence we were gifted with to behold the beauty of the Designer's plan. "If we deign to look, we will see God's eye in the sun, His gesture in the bee's waggle dance, and His arms in the ocean's fragrant embrace."

I like this book a lot. It provides an excellent argument integrating the world view of Faith in God with Science. It is a collection of essays by Intelligent Design proponents including some you may have heard of (Dembski, Johnson, Behe, and Thaxton) along with some that I had not personally heard of (Gills, Woodward, Hartwig, and Ayoub). In some cases, the articles were written for other publications and are either reprinted or revised for this book. It is unapologetically Christian referring to Biblical teaching while integrating that with a wealth of evidence. The underlying theme, which is articulated most clearly by Philip Johnson and addressed from various angles by other contributors is that the debate is NOT between Creationism and Evolution but between World Views - Christian faith and Naturalism/Scientific Materialism. They also point out how the Materialist imports his metaphysic into the debate and unjustly skews the debate by unilaterally determining what is allowed, etc.There is not a whole lot of new stuff in the book. Some of the examples are repeated over and over (irreducible complexity, for one). However, it is very accessible to the reader and even though the discussion gets very detailed in spots, just about any reader can follow it.One of the real highlights of this book was the chapter by Michael Behe. His first part isn't new, just his concept of irreducibility and the example of the flagellum. However, in the second section, he takes on two people, Kenneth Miller and Russell Doolittle, who have boasted to destroying his irreducible complexity. I had read of this in other reviews and was very happy to find the rebuttals here. In both cases, the people in question overlooked some very important details in Halls research experiment (Miller) and T.H. Bugge, et al's work on blood clotting. It turns out that Miller and Doolittle have been careless in their handling of the facts and when the whole report is read, both experiments provide strong evidence for irreducible complexity. In fact in Hall's experiment, he had to intervene with an artificial inducer, IPTG, to move the experiment along. Behe points out that this is investigator interference adding information (design?) to the experiment. It shows that scientists who are highly motivated to bash ID can and do make mistakes and cook the results. They and their findings may not be reliable at face value. The third section of Behe's article deals with the evolutionary myth that ID is not falsifiable. Both Miller and Doolittle attempted to falsify ID by using lab experiments, although they were unsuccessful because of carelessness and lack of supporting data. However, this failed attempt shows that ID IS falsifiable and that complaint from evolutionists is bogus. Further, he makes an interesting point that evolution is NOT falsifiable because of the way Darwin stated it in his book. So, the pot has been calling the kettle black for all of these years!!!Thaxton makes an interesting point that if Origins is best explained by intelligent design, then the whole paradigm changes and mechanistic proposals may be found lacking. This is already a huge problem with the discovery of information (DNA) in the cell.Ayoub's discussion of the design of the Vertebrate Retina is very interesting. I had read summaries of it elsewhere, but it was very nice to read the whole article.Evolutionists will not like the book and will pan it. However, it does an excellent job of defining the relationship between Christian belief and real science. It takes both very seriously and dispels the artificial constraints that Materialism has placed on the debate. It also points out how evolutionists may be more faith-based than they admit to being.As I said, I really liked this book!!

Great guide to help find all the nooks and crannies on these beautiful islands. We found more gems in 10 days than most locals find after years on the island. Every day they’d ask what we were up to or where we were going. Their response? “How’d you know about that?” The only add I would suggest is better instructions on how to get to Owl Hole on Grand Bahama. The main road markers were spot on, but you really need a more rugged vehicle than your standard rent car to get there. The trail there is pretty rough and full of limestone that you’ll scrape bottom on. The actual spot isn’t marked, so you won’t know you’re there until,you run out of trail to drive on. From there you have to just get out and explore on foot through the brush. It’s not easy to locate unless you get help,from a local if you’re fortunate enough to find one there. It’s desolate and a little scary out there! My goal? To buy an all but abandoned restaurant on the beach and become listed as one of the “must go to” restaurants in their next revision!

We bought this because we have never been to the Bahamas. It has maps of the islands and is full of info and things to help us get around.I would say yes order this book.

Best book ever! We will not travel anywhere without one of these Fodor books. So helpful, comments were right on, directions were great. Such an amazing book!

Easy to use. Just grab, let a student pick a card and start getting them moving and thinking.

My gifted students enjoy doing this.

Great product! I am a 5th grade teacher and these have been awesome for my students. I originally got them to use as brain breaks, but I have used them for so many other things, like icebreakers, indoor activity time, short challenges, etc. Overall, a good find!

I played this with my family of 4 and had a great time! Our favorite parts included the cards that had you create your own dance moves. It was fun and accessible for all of the members of my family, including my 9 year old niece. Good times!

I'm a proud Nicaraguan and I can appreciate the book for the information into our own Nicaraguan language. I found it funny, realistic and wonderfully truthful. It is missing a lot of other phrases that I grew up listening to and enjoying and actually still us but it does give you a chance to learn to speak and understand how the culture and the language in Nicaragua goes together. As a person who has friends from other countries and they at times do not understand my Nicaraguan spanish I will use this book as a guide to help them keep up with the conversation.

Amazing book! I used to live in Nicaragua (and had a beautiful Nicaraguan girlfriend before I moved there), so with many friends, stories, histories and memories there and a great love for the culture, I really appreciated this e-book. I definitely recognized some of the regional vocabulary words/sayings in there, and I even learned plenty of new ones! I could think of a few that were not mentioned, but hey, 200 or so entries is pretty darn good and it's hard to find anything about Nicaraguan Spanish, let alone this great book chock full of Nicaraguan idioms! I also like Jamison's witty commentaries filled with humor and profound insight as he remarks on the meanings of these words and sayings. This is my "Bible of Nicaraguan Spanish" - not bad for having been written by a gringo! Five stars, all the way!

LOVE, LOVE.LOVED this book. During the 13 yrs. that I spent in Nica. I had always thought that they needed a book of their 'dichos/palabras nicas'. This book is exactly what I had in mind. It really is a must read if you are planning a trip to Nicaagua and would like to understand 'their language'. For me it is helping me rem. the words that are unique to Nica. and it brings back many happy memory's every time I pick it up.

Purchased as a gift. They enjoyed this on their trip.

My Nicaraguan friends give this book a thumbs up. The words and expressions are spot on for what the locals speak.

I purchased this as a gift for my son. I was born in Nicaragua and had so much fun reading this little book. It describes us so well! I did not realize all the funny mannerisms and things we say!! I want one for myself!!

"Lazy"? This is a pretty good book for a very hard working agent, or one that wants to work hard.If that's you, maybe you should check this one out.

I have read several books by the big guys in Real Estate and although I got value out of all of them, I feel as a newer agent this is the best book I have seen. I think it is the best blend of the need of building a data base but with practical info on how to make that happen with prospecting that works for you and your style. I bought the Kindle to start but just now ordered the paperback because I want to go back and high-light it as I read it again.

While I was waiting for my license to come in the mail, I was looking for real estate books to help me learn, and I came across Wade's book. The book had many helpful tips on prospecting, pricing (or "positioning"), doing effective presentations, and much more. It definitely compelled me to start my real estate career as soon as I could. The book is straight-forward and easy to read which is great because I plan on reading it again. I'm sure even seasoned agents can come across things in the book which they have not heard before. A must-read!

Wade Webb has been a fantastic mentor for numerous people in the Okanagan. I've never had the opportunity to work with him myself, but this book shows a little bit about why his brokerage is so successful.

This book should be in every Realtor's library. Straightforward no nonsense - this book will not only make you money - it will help you save it too.

This book is awesome for someone who is starting out in the Real Estate sales industry and also for someone who just can't figure out what changes they need to make to make their business grow. It has great ideas on marketing, relationship building, and focusing on the daily basic activites. It's a quick read so don't hesitate in buying. I was afraid this book will just motivate me to keep doing better by giving examples of successful people. But it's the total opposite. It's a successful Broker guiding us how to use our time and plan our daily activities. I gave it 5 stars because it's a simole straight forward book with no drama.

If you are new agent and want real information about how to deal in the trenches, this is a good place to start. Real ideas. Not positive thinking and motivational quotes. Ideas on how to talk to clients, how to position property for sale, how to be creative with open houses. Real tips that yoi can use right away as you get started.

Someone suggested this book, after I lost my 32 year old daughter to cancer. I ordered it, tried to read it, and put it down. It stayed stacked with other books, for two years. The beginning of this year I came across it again, opened and read. Now, I can finally read and appreciate it. It is six days until my daughter's birthday (my Valentine's baby), and this excerpt especially touched my heart. "It surprises us. We know it's a fluke. We know it won't last.Happiness? Contentment? Joy? And not just a quick flash of joy, of contentment--as when we are lifted up on wings of song--or by prayer--or by a spectacular sky--or because of a daisy blooming in some field. But a sense that in some way we are going to be able, after all this, to be happy! Whoever would have thought it?.......It is life calling to us--See, you are mine. I have wonders in store for you, believe it or not. And I will wait for you--beneath the snow, if necessary, and beyond the storm." When I came home this summer from being with my three grand children, I was full of joy and love. A thought came, "Why should I be happy? She is gone, and I'm all alone." I decided right there and then, that I would be happy, period. Was I happy that I had lost my daughter? Never in a million years, nor was I happy with how things happened or turned out, but I chose to be happy in life, despite what had happened, she would have wanted that. Now that I can finally read this book, it has brought smiles and tears and is helping me heal even more. I wrote this so that those that are walking this road of shards of glass, when it has turned into a path of pebbles, you can pick this up, read and meditate. I ordered this because I had just lost my dog. I know this is probably for human loss but I still pick it up after 8 months to find help. I feel that loss is loss and when you have a dog that is your constant companion for 16 1/2 years, you grieve over them as well.

I lost my husband l0 months ago and a neighbor gave me this book. I cannot explain how many of the daily readings spoke directly to me. These readings are written by people who also have lost a loved one and they spoke of their agony.It seems I was no longer alone. These people shared the same agony I am still experiencing.OF ALL THE READINGS I HAVE DONE THIS PAST YEAR - THIS WAS THE BEST.! CERTAINLY it doesn't bring my loved husband back but now know I am not suffering alone.I have purchased several of these books for others. Every one is amazed how these pages seem to speak directly to each one of us.

I look forward to reading this every morning. I'm 57 and my Mom passed away very suddenly August 6, 2016. My Dad passed away 14 months previously - at times it more than I can handle - being no ones child has been a rather rude awakening to me.

I don't write many reviews but this book is so exceptional that I had to write a review. My five year old son died suddenly and accidentally in 2013. I thought my life was over. I am an avid reader and bought every book on grieving I could find to try to help me cope and figure out how to keep living.This little book is far and away my most treasured purchase. If I had to give away my entire library and keep one book, this would be it. The passages are short and easy to read in under five minutes, which is a blessing for those of us dealing with loss of concentration that comes with intense grief. Although short, the passages contain deep, thought provoking, yet simple, gentle and hopeful thoughts for those suffering from devastating loss.I recently went away for a weekend and although packing space was limited, I took this book with me. That is how much a part of my morning routine it has become. It is not overtly religious, so I would feel comfortable giving this book to anyone, from the most religious person I know to the staunchest atheist. It is intelligent and insightful and does not give way to clichés or trite phrases that we hear all too often. I highly recommend it for anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one. I am purchasing additional copies to family and friends who are also grieving.

I bought this book when I was coping with the loss of my grandmother- she was the first person close to me that I have lost. I found this book on here and couldn't be more glad that I did. Every time that I read it, a sense of comfort comes over me. It's extremely relatable and helpful to get in the right mindset. Everyone goes through grief and this book could be more spot on with words of love, inspiration and motivation.I ended up buying this book for my grandfather, parents and aunt and they were so appreciative and have the best things to say about the book as well. My aunt read it all in a week, my grandfather picks it up occasionally and skips around and I prefer to read it daily- all ways have led my family to more peace. A must need for people going through hard times and need a little extra boost.

Gret little book of daily inspirations- not too heavy., Many ppl who are grieving might find a book of more substance too tedious. This is light. Read daily or just now and again- when you are in the mood. Start in the middle or from the end..there are no rules. Nice to be able to look up special dates such as the date you lost your loved one or th day you met etc ... Recommended!

My grandmother was given this by a friend whenever her spouse passed. She found a lot of comfort in the book. Recently, a good friend of hers had their son pass and she immediately turned to this book and wanted her friend to have a copy. Since she is not very tech savy, I helped her order this on my amazon account. I personally have never read this book, but for her to not only enjoy it, but also want to purchase it for someone else, I have faith that it is good. Just so you know a little bit about her to see if you might have similar taste....my grandmother is 80 years old, a devoted Christian, loves her family and to provide for them, and is a friend to any and everyone. She enjoys cooking, her many cats, and working in her garden.
