For a nice guy, Jack Noble has serious enemies! Moving from state to state, town to town, Jack is always uneasy; he doesn't want to interact with anyone. Then his jeep breaks down near a small town and Jack is given a ride and room to stay in by an older man, who cryptically warns him not to stay in this small town in New Mexico. There are so many reasons I love this latest Jack Noble book. There is a story included of Jack's childhood, which explains a lot about how Jack became the amazing soldier he is. You will find the usual great suspense, fast moving prose, violence against the bad guys, and even a little romance. Jack's character is reminiscent of Lee Child's "Reacher" character, but the writing and storyline by Author, L.T. Ryan, is much better!
I enjoyed the Jack Noble Series until I came to Book 9, which was complicated with too many subplots and characters. The confusion was greatly amplified in many places where the characters names were wrong as well as the gender of the personal pronouns, e.g.,“he†was used where “she†belonged and vice versa.Now, Book10 didn’t suffer so much from these problems, and the book switched back and forth between two stories, one in the present day and the other when Jack was a young boy, which was a very enjoyable style.However, there were continual defeats of the present-day Jack.The author should have broken up all these back-to-back dismal failures by an occasional win. The failures also included a detailed description of the young Jack’s inability to prevent his sister’s death, which earlier books in the series had mentioned but not described.At the ending the author finally threw in a win for the present-day Jack in order to continue the series with a principal character who was alive. But even this was a close call where Jack barely managed to prevail with a lucky break. And, for the first time, the author finally indicated what Jack had been up against all along, more or less. Then Jack loses his lover and ends up in the hands of an old enemy.Joy, joy, joy.In brief, you might consider skipping Book 10 unless you would enjoy 338 pages of Jack’s continual defeats. Indeed, I’ll be very leery of Book 11.Martin Fricke, Ph.D.San Diego.
for Jack Noble to be advertised as some kind of a super agent he sure has declined over time, not by age but by Ryan's writing, into the preverbial punching bag. I've read all the Noble books in order and they all seem to be getting further and further away from his being an elite fighting machine with this one being the best example of his lack of skill. Running away, getting knocked out, shot, captured, surprised, hiding all the while having an endless supply of luck and coincidence, as always, on his side. I'll stick it out until the end of the series, only two more, but the story-line and Noble's reputation have gotten old and worn. He should be more of a Reacher/Seagal type based on the hype Ryan tries to sell rather than a Karate Kid that gets pummeled the entire movie but comes out on top at the end. And as always seems to be behind again leading into the next book, kind of like the Walking Dead does.
A must read for action adventure enthusiasts! If you enjoyed the Noble books you are sure in for another thrill ride, if not then try out the first Jack Noble book at no cost to start your adventure!This is yet another Ryan book I had trouble putting down, I was up late most nights until the book ended and I let off craving more!Jack is an assassin for hire with a soft side. That side is tucked away during most of his missions but comes front and center when dealing with innocence, friends and most coworkers. The action keeps the book moving and the emtional connections keep the book interesting. Definitely another great read by Ryan.
Jack Reacher has been a hero of mind since Lee Child introduced him in 1997. Now we have another reluctant hero to live vicariously through exciting adventures - Jack Noble. The L.T. Ryan "Jack Noble" series differs in many ways from Child's tales of a wandering hero. Noble is crossing the country to escape a very real threat, not only to himself but his family. His adventures, albeit reluctantly per sued, are thrilling, complex, and introduce great supporting characters. It's a fun read, and deals with issues we all could easily run in to. Enjoy the ride, I certainly did!
I read the very first Nobel books. I have to say that they were good but not impressive. I got this one on special sale a few days ago. I've become very jaded about books as I am an extreme reader and won't read a book that isn't well written. I was happily surprised when I started reading. It is well written, held my interest, iNteresting characters and lots of action. Best of all, it felt real and not just words thrown together to take up space without researching a bit to see if it could realistically be done...Great job Mr. Ryan. I think I'll be reading more of your books
Novels o n the drift and happens to breakdown in the town where Detective Sweeney is in Dee Eric protective custody, to much of a coincidence,but anyway the town has secrets an Jack can't stay out of them. He even finds out w hi o killed his sister Molley, another coincidence. But I'm not complaining, the story is tight, fast and pushes Jack to th he ledge. But Jack doesn't fall, he just o pushes everyone else off.
No suprise that the latest entry in the Jack Noble series is excellent. Hasnt been a poor one yet. This installment finds Jack awandering cross country just trying to stay low. However, since its Jack that doesnt last long. Some old names pop up and we get a thorough filling in on past events from the noble family that give us some serious insight into why Jack is and what shapes him in many ways. Overall another great entertaining volume featuring Jack Noble, one of the best action novel characters going today. Buy it if you like Bourne, Reacher or any similar characters.
