Stanley Newman is crossword editor for the Long Island, New York, newspaper Newsday, and is syndicated worldwide to more than 200 daily, Sunday, and Internet newspapers. As a puzzle creator, his work has appeared regularly in Prevention, People, Sport, and Businessweek magazines. Newman is the author or editor of over 200 books and has organized and conducted many puzzle and trivia events throughout the United States, including six seminars at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, and, in 2007, the first crossword tournament ever held at Yale University. He lives in New York with his wife and has three grown children.

I can't say enough about Mr. Newman's thought-provoking puzzles. Great fun, and great pastime all with a humorous twist. One must put on a "thinking cap" though ... they're not easy-peasy puzzles, so be prepared to work a little for a solution. Keep 'em comin' Mr. Newman!
A great puzzle book! The puzzles are challenging but not so much so that you have to "cheat" by googling the clues. The puzzles have clever themes, and I love the fun facts about answers. I plan to order all the books in the series.
I have used several of Newman's crossword books. This is the worst one. I got about two-thirds though, and finally gave up and thew the book away. The clues were either too easy or too obscure. But the worst thing about it is the complete lack of wit or humor. None of the clues were at all clever.I was going to give up on Newman completely, but the only other crossword book I had available was also one of his. Fortunately thus far it seems to be much better than this one.
This is a fine series of X-word puzzle books. After you finish the puzzle, you can go to the answer page. This not only allows you to check your answers, but also gives you little trivia facts about some of the answers.For me, these "Sunday" puzzles are at just the right level of difficulty.
Pittsburgh Post Gazette no longer available in Clarion County so I got this for my mother who enjoys the Sunday crossword puzzle. She loves this! Does 1 a week. 1st couple she found a bit less than challenging but now she spends a couple hours easily to finish one. Great tool to keep the mind active for any age.
These were challenging crosswords and clever. It helps to have a spiral binding so the puzzles lay flat.
This is part of a collection I enjoy; not too easy or too difficult
Arrived on time. Well made book. The hints are much too vague; making these puzzles not enjoyable.
