Great book for a beginner or intermediate level classical guitar (even a fake classical guitarist like me). I thought the book came with a CD but it has a download link for all the audio clips of the songs, which is even better! The songs sound simple but they are harder to play than they sound. This book should keep occupied for a while!

Nice, somehow I thought more of them would be more widely known pieces. Still, Great Bach melodies and harmonies, easy to play, good collection!!

I enjoy reading through these songs. They aren't too hard, but they're pretty and make for nice sight reading exercises.

I really love these arrangements. The harmony is full and rich, and right at my playing level. It's always nice to have some Bach in your repertoire when you explain to other you're a "classical" guitarist. Though, even though the title says easy, I wouldn't recommend it for beginners. I have been playing for 5 years, and 1 year classical and it takes me about an hour to become acquainted with a song, and a couple to perfect it. I plan on learning one a day, it's like push-ups for guitar!The only cons I found were that there was tablature (if you're playing at this level, in my opinion you shouldn't need it), and each song does not include a BWV number

I now have a large library of Cross Stitch reference books but I thought that I would add this just to see. I am delighted that I did. It is a comprehensive look at cross stitch and other styles of needlework that compliment and add to cross stitch design. Many of the tips and techniques were unknown to me or skills I didn't possess as my focus was strictly cross stitch. I didn't realize until I looked at this book how limited my choices were and how simple it would be to enhance my pieces. I have learned so much just by scanning my copy. It may take practice to develop some of the skills but it's worth the time invested. The detail put into this book is exceptiomal. If you don't own one of these, get one. If you are a needleworker, you won't be sorry. I know that if I were stranded somewhere with just a few needlework items this would be one of the books I'd have by my side. Enjoy!!!

I really enjoy this little book of small treasures. It has a lot of information about different types of cross-stitch styles and works. Lots of free patterns. I had never heard of 'Blackwork' or 'Hardanger'; now I will be taking my future projects to the next level. She discusses all the new types of flosses and threads. This is a must have to get people in love with cross-stitch.

I used to do some needlework years ago, and decided to do a project this year to use at my church, so actual people will see it. I needed help on the basics, and quickly! I found an older version of this book in the library, and it was so useful, I have bought a copy. It talks about the differences in threads, how to choose number of strands, which way to stitch, fabrics, basics of the stitches, reading a chart, all of that. Very helpful reference.

This book is filled with great tips and information. I keep going back to it as she goes into detail about techniques and different materials and floss.

This is quite a nice spiral bound book (I bought used). The one question it does not answer is how to transcribe a cross stitch design onto fabric using either a special pencil or perhaps special paper.Counted cross stitching is time consuming and for my old eyes I prefer something that does not involve so much counting! I may just try to use my special blue pen (the ink washes out with water) and just sketch the major parts of my very busy cross stitch design onto the fabric. The design I purchased is counted and covers the entire fabric and will be very labor intensive.Otherwise, this is a very handy little book to have and I really appreciate the color photos, the little notes from the author and of course that it is spiral bound to lie flat.

I've been doing cross-stitch since I was a child, but I was self taught and limited to the basic half dozen stitches. This book really opened my eyes to the variation of cross-stitch that is available to advanced stitchers. Now I feel like I once again have something to learn. My only complaint would be I wish she would show popular variations of stitches. For example her 3/4 stitch, it seems like a 50/50 split among stitchers about whether to anchor the long thread or have the long thread cover the short thread, but she only mentions the one way.

Complete cross stitch book.This has everything that I need to renew my interest in stitching.Thank you!

This book wasn't so much bad as over long. It dragged on and on for no reason. The clues were phantasmal and vague. Motive for the murder made sense but not the overall plot of the story. I know that I loved the long game of details in Harry Potter series but the long game in the solving of a mystery is no fun at all. Characters were better developed and somewhat likable unlike the Casual Vacancy where everyone was one dimensional vapid and unlikable. Still not enough to like about Robin and Cormoran to make me return for more of such slow undeveloped mystery solving

Oh boy, quite possibly the worst book I’ve ever managed to finish reading; I only finished it because it is the book of the month for our book club at work. Galbraith (Rowling) writes beautiful passages at times but describing every person and scene in intense detail does not make a great book.What is lacking for 350 of the 400+ pages is any kind of plot development. A private eye novel should build suspense and constantly have the reader wondering what the next clue means. Instead we follow Strike the protagonist through a series of meetings that lead to no conclusions and no questions for the reader to ponder beyond “why am I reading this book?”Rowling should stick with a Harry Potter, that series was excellent.

I read The Cuckoo’s Calling to fulfill the prompt of A book with a female author who uses a male pseudonym (in this case, J. K. Rowling) for the 2018 POPSUGAR Reading Challenge.The first in a series of detective novels, this is the Introduction of Cormoran Strike, a private investigator who has seen better days: he’s previously lost half a leg in Afghanistan, loses his longtime girlfriend as the novel begins, is receiving death threats from a former client, and is down to a single client and facing mounting debt.The arrival of his new temporary secretary, Robin, ushers in a season of change for both of them. Soon, Strike is hired by the brother of a supermodel who famously fell to her death from the balcony of her third-floor flat 3 months prior. Her brother—who also happens to be the brother of one of Strike’s friends who died as a child—offers a great deal of money to Strike to prove Lula’s death was not suicide, but murder.There are lots of twists and turns in the mystery/investigation, and the prerequisite number of red herrings floating about. I honestly was less impressed by the mystery and its outcome (throwing away things that don’t make sense by way of virtually saying, “Who knows what goes through the mind of a psychopath?” is the sign of a lazy or incompetent author, and Rowling is normally not either) than I was by the characters of Cormoran and Robin, though I did feel a lot more development could have happened with them, but considering the book was already close to 600 pages and the pacing seemed to drag at times, perhaps it is best Rowling/Galbraith saved some for future books in the series.Based on the strength of the main characters and some of the peripheral ones, I gave this 4 out of 5 stars, and will be picking up the next book in the series to see how these characters continue to develop.

There are flashes of brilliance but for the most part, It's a very slow and drawn out book. The slowness makes it tough to read and you will without a doubt want to put it down several times when reading it because of it. The plot is pretty straight forward for a detective novel although it's certainly not predictable. I really enjoy Strike as a character as well as his assistant Robin. I think the potential is there but Rowling should go back to the drawing board for the next book.My biggest issue is the book's length. Nearly 600 pages is far too long, Especially when there's quite a bit of filler in it. She should have went for a 400-500 page length instead and it would have make for a much quicker and satisfying read. Hopefully she tries to do that for the next book. And yes I have already bought the next book. Despite my average review, I liked the characters enough to give them another shot.

Cormoran Strike is not having a good time of it. His turbulent relationship has come to an end and he's sleeping in his office. He's on the verge of losing that office because business has been tough, and even though Strike could rely on military benefits from the tour in Afghanistan that left him missing one leg, he's determined to make it on his own. A temp agency has just sent him an exceedingly capable assistant named Robin, but he can't afford to pay her and may lose her.Right on cue, the client of Strike's dreams walks through the door and promises to solve all his problems if he'll look into the apparent suicide of world-famous supermodel Lula Landry. The central mystery is presented as the old 'locked room' scenario: as far as anyone can tell, Lula was alone in her apartment and no one could have entered the building, gotten to the third floor, pushed her out the window, and escaped back down to the lobby without being seen by security or the other tenants, who were hysterical over Lula's swan dive. The three other people in the building are all accounted for thanks to their own accounts of what happened, but one of them claims to have heard Lula screaming at someone before the fall--which should be impossible because of all the soundproof barriers between them at the time. It's up to Strike to penetrate the mystery and find out what went on in that building.You could argue that this novel is overly long and unnecessarily slow, but it only seems that way because so much of the genre is overly concerned with fast pacing and constant cliffhangers. Cuckoo's Calling grabs your attention the old-fashioned way and holds it without any tricks. It feels gratifying. The payoff: immense character depth that makes you want to hang in for the sequels. Cuckoo also eschews the 'final twist' formula that has, frankly, become tired. It was great reading a book about a determined, professional, sensitive, brother, who consistently displayed his deep respect and love for his woman. I loved the fact that Tevin, never gave up on Jemistry. This guy was never afraid of what others thought of his sensitive side. I enjoyed the open communication between them. Neither one of them was looking for love when they met.I would highly recommend this book!!!!

This was a great book. Gave different views on different kinds of relationships. Some of the things we do in the dark eventually catch up with us as we seen with Floyd. He had a great woman and figured he could do whatever he wanted. Was so good to see 2 good people like Jemistry and Tevin find real love in other since they had been through so much. Even Winsome found someone and ended up getting counseling for her issues. Well written book. 5 stars for sure.

This was a good read. Winsome character was a little unbelievable for me; but I do believe love can heal. Tevin is a man most women say they want, but to not appreciate him or recognize him when he is in front of them. Lol Tevin was almost perfect; most do not come in the package with all those traits in 1 package. This definitely is for good conversations. We read it as part of our book club, can't wait to discuss.

I am a fan of Zane but this book read to me like it was written by a college student with no real concept of the dimension of people. I found the dialogue very unbelievable for older highly educated professionals and so I couldn't really get into the characters. I would not recommend.

This book has reinforced my hope, my faith that there is a true love out there for me. It was definitely an eye opener on many topics. One being why some think the way that they do and why some feel their ridiculous actions are justifiable. I'd recommend this book to anyone that has given up on love; to anyone that are stuck in a "generational curse" of believing dysfunctional, disrespectful and/or abusive relationships are "normal;" to anyone who enjoys a unique love story as much as I do. I gave it 5 stars because it is a well-written story with a message. It's more than erotica, it makes you think while being entertained. Loved it!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this book. I started reading it on a Sunday and was finished with it on Friday. I didnt want to put it down at all but i had to do adult stuff during the week lol. GREAT read

Zane says this book is meant to be a conversation piece because it covers a lot of sensitive subjects that affect men, women and their relationships. This 2017 edition was a pretty good guide book. I stayed about 11 days in Shanghai, making my way around on my own and also used the book for a day in Suzhou and 3 days Hangzhou and felt very comfortable. Unlike the LP guide to China which weighs a ton and is almost unusable in the field because of this, this book easily slid in and out of the side pocket of my back pack.Sometimes I had a hard time combining the overlapping maps in the back with the maps in the chapters and the walking maps. Sometimes I wished there was more on the different shopping and dining opportunities. In this respect I felt that the authors, not being long-time residents of Shanghai, lacked a deeper understanding of where to shop and dine and stay, but this is a finer point for a longer time tourist. The starred restaurant were definitely good selection, though I had a super excellent hotel that wasn't listed here even though it was a huge chainThough in general, I liked the maps in the back. I wished the walking tours were longer and more descriptive. I did them all. This was my second time in Shanghai.Just one warning, everyone uses smartphone pay systems as of September 2018, and it is hard to get a taxi and even occasionally pay for things. VISA is almost useless besides in hotels. Taxis avoid you because they don't want to use cash and are often busy chasing online customers. Non-Chinese are more or less not allowed to put money in Chinese banks and therefore cannot take advantage of all the WeChat and AliPay have to offer the regular Chinese citizens who use WeChat Pay or AliPay or UnionPay almost exclusively.I'd really like to give the book a 5, but a 4.5 is more like it and so I'll have to give it a 4 stars.

What a great resource this was for our recent trip to Shanghai! We took it everywhere we went and used it as a guide for itinerary planning. I found the phrase translations at the back very valuable although my pronunciations were lacking. 😕 The pullout map was a bonus.We went to a few of the recommended restaurants which were good and discovered other ones on our own. Shanghai has so many small family-run places to eat, many of which are cheap and utilitarian.I'd recommend this book for anyone planning a trip to Shanghai, especially if you have several days to explore.

Super helpful, was our "bible" on our trip. By following suggested walks we maximized eyeing sites in a short amount of time.

As a rule, it is difficult to stay interested in travel books after perusing the first pages and fight to read the small print and look at the irrelevant color pictures. This book is no different—it does the job.

This is a good book on the topic. I needed it for a college course (Rutgers University Newark). It is rather thorough, but seems to be more a high school or junior college level text than a bachelor-level text. The course was not, thanks to a very competent, gifted and thorough professor.

This edition has become a classic secondary school text written by two people linked to agriculture and horticulture who have worked for decades with student learners. John C. George

It has all of the basics that I never learned. It is a bit deep, but that is it's beauty. You just have to learn to read and how the pictures apply.

I first encountered this book in the 5th edition, which was ok. This edition, the 6th, has been greatly updated. There are more tables throughout i.e. pH leves on plants, insects that harm or help the garden, etc. This book is by no means exhaustive, so don't delude yourself into thinking that it will tell you everything you need to know about plants and horticultures. This book is however an excellent resource and will help to point the user in the right directions. Topics include but arent' limited to: Plant propigation (by seeds, spliting bulbs, hard and softwood cuttings, etc.), introduction to greenhousing, vergetable gardening, certain fruits i.e. strawberries, raspberries, and houseplants. Like i said, great 'over-all-information' book.

great color pictures, information content could be more, book a little pricey for a textbook with low amount of detail info. For the beginners it is a good start. Myself who is more advanced, sees that more technical information is more important than pictures.
