As intro, a couple chapters into her book, I sent Mira a detailed question via FB and she was very kind to answer. In her message back, Mira asked me to review her book and so here goes...In short, I liked Mira's book!Can tell she worked hard on it and there are several eye-opening parts. Just I will agree with other reviewers in saying the book is not an easy read and took me personally awhile to finish. Still, I plan to read it again and to take notes.My suggestions: #1) If you are a fast reader with little patience, go first to Google search and enter: "time, Mira Kelley, youtube"...Top entry will be Lilou Mace's video interview (44min) with Mira. In those 44minutes, Mira verbally covers quickly the main themes presented in "Beyond Past Lives". Actually, I prefer listening to Mira, to reading her. In the interview, Mira goes right to her main points and is wonderful, so very expressive. Other reviewers are correct, Mira's writing style is a bit "all over the map" and I agree with them. Trust me, listen to Mira's words first in the interview...then study this book for the detail.Suggestion #2) Find a local past life regression therapist near you and go through a couple of sessions...Then you can read Mira's book and get a whole lot more out of the concepts and ideas, what she is explaining. Mira has probably done 1000+ regressions by now and to a novice reader with zero background, they just won't have the same experience reading her words. Having had regressions done really really helped this read. Even for me tho, Mira went off the deep end in places. I thought, whew, a novice reader will likely be scratching head here. So I agree with other reviewers...a lot of this is Mira's explanations...and more client narratives would have really helped this book. Even with having had my own past life regressions, part of me wanted just to hear a simple rendition of-> how Mira step-by-step conducts her sessions. So I could compare with how my own counselor helped me.Suggestion #3) Mira's exercise sections are very valuable and follow her instructions carefully, you will helped in many ways...Especially Mira makes a GIANT contribution by presenting and documenting about simultaneous time. That is...past, present, future are all happening now. Even tho we live our lives in linear time. A few weeks ago, I listened to Dr. Brian Weiss on George Noory's, "Coast to Coast AM" radio show and he just didn't get into some of the concepts that Mira covers in this book. There is another thing that Mira's book does...many of the concepts in the Seth books written by Jane Roberts...Mira shows real life (regression) examples in her book. Particularly when Mira discusses simultaneous time, she is illustrating what was written years ago (1970, Seth Material and 1972, Seth Speaks).
I am trying to keep an open mind or else why bother getting into metaphysics? This is my first book I've read on past lives and although there are really interesting and fascinating anecdotes that is truly eye-opening, there are a few "hmmm's" I'm having with it.1) The idea of parallel lives are interesting - but it makes me feel a bit out of control. I know this is not the intention, but this introduces too much to the equation. I can hardly get my own life - the one I'm living in order... that's why I am exploring metaphysics in the first place. Juggling 2 or 3 or 5 lives sound daunting and overwhelming. I don't think though this is the intention of the writer - so I feel like it could be written in a way that better clarifies this.2) It just seems like, if you go to a regressionist, the regressionist will heal you almost instantaneously. How often does this happen? Is it a guarantee that if a person goes to a regressionist will... help you heal yourself? Does the spirit guide ever say - no I will not heal you, because you've not learned your lesson. I know skepticism doesn't help, that's the anti-thesis of the argument here... I am all for self healing, but instant healing... or these ideas of playing with time - the author makes it sounds so easy - like, you just do this, and it's done! And I know her point is that it can be that easy, that we make it difficult. But I just don't understand it I guess.3) Some parts of the book makes it sound like that your whole life depends on the one choice you make. For example, past life stories of choosing work over love - it seems like once you've made that choice, and you chose wrong, you're screwed! That's horrible to think that you've wasted that life with one choice. I know there is this idea that all choices are simultaneous and you can change ever past choices, etc etc. But this is way complicated. So the idea that unless you fully understand and can apply this concept that all choices are simultaneous and are able to successfully change your past choices, you are more or less screwed and cannot change your present circumstances.One last nit pick I have is the author is quite self-congratulatory which turns me off slightly. I've read many metaphysical books in which they talk about helping their clients, but there is something about the way she talks about it that rubs me the wrong way. It's not horrible, but enough for me to note it.Some things I do like:-The book has a general message that life lessons can be rather simple and obvious. Often times we don't see what is right in front of us. And the idea that it is often love over anything else that is important-The idea of simultaneous lives although confusing is very fascinating. One of the reasons I searched out for a book like this is because I have been having dreams which I think are past lives, and one of them seemed like it was in the present, so interesting it is all together possible this other person I dreamt of being was me.-Generally the stories are really interestingPerhaps I am not at a point in my spiritual path where I can understand all of this. And really I've always accepted that so much of this is beyond our human comprehension - and so perhaps I never will understand what Mira Kelley says in this book. But this book takes away the control of your present life a bit too much - as if the only way to heal is to go to a regressionist, which is not the case. I know that she is a regressionist and that's what she has had the most experience with.... but perhaps the information can be presented in a way that shows more than one side of the coin would make it easier to understand.
This is one of the best books I've ever read on this subject. The title is correct, the author does indeed go "Beyond Past Lives" and into the captivating realm of "life between lives" with startling consequences. The book is filled with transcript notes from Mira Kelley's personal regression sessions, in which she takes the client on a journey into a past life, the death of that body, and into the soul's crossing to the other side. During the hypnosis session, the client is able speak aloud and describe everything that is happening, seen and felt, along the way. They often meet a guide and sometimes the council of elders - some will even visit the Akashic hall of records. The author then follows up each of the client's excursions with a discussion of their discoveries, which often can reveal answers to a present-day problem, perhaps disclosing the cause of a current illness. This often allows for a spontaneous healing to take place, bringing the client great comfort and peace of mind. Also within each session Ms. Kelley is able to access and speak to the client's "higher self" unearthing many fascinating facts which can help to answer the deeper questions behind the lifetimes the soul has lived.
