Hamilton scoffs, for example, at the bride and groom who tried to solicit sponsors for their wedding in exchange for "signage at the reception venue." She shakes her head at the pair who took their registry "to a new low in greed" when they offered guests chances to pay for specific parts of their honeymoon in Hawaii-the airfare, the housing, the meals and activities. And she reprimands the couple audacious enough to send announcements a full year after the event, telling friends and relatives not invited to the wedding that they can "honor the union" with "contributions to the home purchasing fund." Tacky and rude, these instances of extreme faux pas make for amusing reading. Hamilton's discussion is slightly hampered, however, by occasional fictional asides. Meant to give further insight on the planning process, the fictional conversations between a generic "Brideweena" and etiquette expert "Miss Jeanne" are distracting instead. They add little to the overall project, a book some people-particularly those who revel in others' social blunders-will find infinitely fascinating. I was shocked when I read the ''most helpful'' reviews listed for this book because I am an avid devotee of etiquettehell.com and I seriously reconsidered my purchase despite looking forward to reading this book for some time. I took the allegations against Jeanne Hamilton seriously although I couldn't fathom they were accurate as I would never spend time on a website administered by such a hateful, elitist snob. HOWEVER, I could be wrong, so I definitely wanted to read the book regardless to find out if the charges were substantiated, and if indeed Jeanne Hamilton is hiding a hideous persona that somehow the website conceals but the book reveals. I take reviews seriously and finally decided I needed to judge for myself as to the allegations of racism and elitism.Having read Wedding Etiquette Hell at long last, I see Bridezillas are the authors of those reviews. Any time ethnicity or cultural traditions are mentioned in the book, it is when money grubbing entitlement practices are being discussed. If I am wrong about this, and there are in fact reproducible passages in the book that can be quoted in a future review, please do so. I see that did not occur in the scathing reviews, but my inferences of where the allegations arise from are absolutely accurate, I am positive. Bridezillas HATE this book, lololol. I found it hysterical and dead-on accurate. Sickeningly so!!I recommend this book for all wedding party members who have any integrity whatsoever, but it will be wasted on those who have none and will write negative reviews after having been exposed to themselves through the book lololol. Matrimony for the money --- how much of the divorce rate occurs from that TRUE motivation for marriage.

I really enjoyed this book and got a lot out of it. I would have given it a higher review than 3 stars, but I did have some issues with the book:1. The author was too negative about certain wedding traditions, mainly the practice of having bridesmaids. She repeatedly used the phrase: "Honor" of being a bridesmaid, with the word honor in quotes. I found that very irritating, because as a recent bridesmaid myself, I can say that I was quite honored by the role despite the expense and time required.2. A majority of the advice in the book can be boiled down to: Be a decent human being. Most of the stories are about a bride or a person who behaved very cruelly or even insanely. These stories were usually VERY entertaining, but didn't yield much practical advice.As I said though, I really did enjoy this book and the author was able to win me over on a number of issues, most especially the issue of photography. I had been planning to have a 45 minute gap between ceremony and reception at my upcoming wedding, but the author was able to convince me that that would be rude, and that prewedding photography can be special in it's own way. There were also some good practical tips on socializing with guests, etc.I do recommend this book, but you'll need to read other, more complete wedding etiquette books to get all the necessary practical advice!

I am a fan of the author's Etiquette Hell web site (which covers more than weddings), so when I became a bride-to-be I picked this book up. What sets it apart from other etiquette guides, besides not having hundreds of pages, is that it uses real-life stories and covers only the areas that people are most likely to care about. In other words, it's relevant. She introduces etiquette rules and uses stories to illustrate them. Some of the stories are a bit extreme, but it is effective to get the point across.Some people may think that it is petty, but I don't think it is. Personally, I stopped talking to a friend when she didn't invite me to her wedding (and made it clear from the get-go that I wasn't invited) but still waved her engagement ring in my face and invited me to her bridal shower. Those are the things people really care about. No one's really going to remember or even care about whether the train on your gown was cathedral or chapel-length or what flowers and cake you chose and this book doesn't even address it. Instead, it covers things like being sure you have enough seating, having a venue that is appropriate, how to treat guests/family/the wedding party, invitation and announcement etiquette, registry etiquette, and generally not becoming a bridezilla.I subtracted a star, though, because the wedding planner/bride conversation sections probably should have been left out of the book. they just rehash what she had already spent the previous several pages saying and are unnecessary. Overall, though, this is a must for any bride-to-be.

I thought this book was hillarious as well as a great guide for any bride to be. Anyone who has ever been a bride or attended weddings probably knows a horror story or two regarding them, and can really relate to this book. I am using the advice planning my own wedding, and it's a much better read than most of the boring bridal etiquette books.

i read this entire book from cover to cover and I found it to be not only hilarious, but extremely helpful, as it covers basic etiquette concerning weddings that maybe not everyone is already aware of. i guess the main thing is that it basically illustrates how doing little "harmless" things that an ignorant or just plain naive person would do (i.e. putting wedding registry info along with an invitation, "forgetting" to give thank-you notes) could result in people getting really offended and/or hurt. the examples (true stories!) are quite interesting and funny to read, and make you realize how you really don't want to become one of those bridezillas! This is probably the book equivalent to that show on WE (can't remember the name) featuring "bridezillas" going nutso during their wedding planning. The thing is, once you see how ugly and nasty people like that can become, you'll want to do everything in your power not to turn into one of them. :)

I just finished reading (and marking up) this book. I found this a very useful. I already had an extensive set of survival items I had assembled for camping. (There is a lot of overlap between a Bug Out Bag (BOB) and a backpack loaded for multi-day wilderness camping.) However, I identified a number of items that I could add to my kit. Within the various categories, the author compares and describes different items -- types of whistles or compasses for example. If you are not sure what you might need for a BOB or camping trip, this is a good place to start.This book is not about survival skills. This is about the tools and gear you need to survive and how to assemble those items. One nice feature is the different methods you can assemble kits - from pocket size to vehicles.I found a couple of issues with the book, which was published in 2013. In water purification he makes no mention of a popular filter system. However, he does describe the water filter on his website. Also, he has several checklists in the back. The book cites a website for downloading copies of the lists, But that URL, which was for the publisher of the book, is no longer valid. I contacted the author. He told me the URL was added by the publisher. Nevertheless, the lists in the back of the book are very useful.

I've been an outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, pilot and backpacker and never needed an emergency survival kit. Not yet, anyway. But all this time I have thought about such necessities and circumstances. This book is the ultimate and very thoughtful, intelligent and useful account of survival kits. I have loaned my hard copy to friends and have a copy of this book on my kindle. It is excellent and I recommend it to all who might, conceivably, have a use some day for such knowledge. That happens to be all of us.

The best books written about survival kits, from simple to complex from small to large kits. I built my first survival kit when I was in High School, that was around 1969 when 3 of my friends and me decided to climb Bear Mountain in NY State straight up, and we did. I have been building first aid kits ever since for myself and I am 67 years old. John has put a lot of experience and common sense into his book, and written at a level that anyone can understand. With the help of this book you can build a survival kit customized to your own needs, and if you ever have to use it along with some common it may save your life.

This book is very well written as it breaks down the process of building a survival kit into components and then shows how to combine these into what ever type of kit you need. There are comparisons of products and listings of sources which is really appreciated. You will not be disappointed.

Pretty good book. Some good info here and good details covering the subjects. Like most of these type of books once you read a couple they are pretty much all the same info. Some info is covered a bit better in this book but some is just over done

Best book on the subject. Enhance your ability to survive in the great outdoors and read this book.

He knows his stuff. What I like is that he is not saying this is the only way/supplies, but he tells what works for him, and gives very explicit info on the precise products he uses and why they are his preference.

This edition is very obviously printed on demand by a paperback mill and is actually harder to read because of it! It's filled with grammatical errors and inexplicable changes in font and size. Words are smooshed together and the charts are all pixelated and artifacted. It looks like a meme that your aunt would post on your facebook wall basically. Check out the bizarre acknowledgment at the beginning! Also no publisher is listed anywhere in the book and the printing date is the date I ordered it, haha

In spite of Keynes' caveat in the preface ("This book is chiefly addressed to my fellow economists. I hope that it will be intelligible to others.") I owed it to myself to give it a read. _The General Theory_ is dense reading. Fortunately, Keynes is clear in his exposition, his positions well articulated.As a non-economist, I was struck by several things. First was Keynes' demolition of "classical" economic theory on the means of increasing employment, political economy, and the relationship of supply to demand. (Think Say, Malthus, and especially Ricardo and Pigou.) This was totally unexpected, but given the revolutionary nature of his argument, entirely understandable. Second, I was stuck by the way in which Keynes structures his theory - it was much more reminiscent of philosophy than economics, as the terms Keynes uses are first clearly defined and deliniated before the relationship between ideas (and his postulates on the cause and effect between them) is discussed. Lastly, I was pleasantly suprised by the wit and cleverness of his writing.That said, I found it difficult reading, primarily because I am not fluent with many of the concepts Keynes discusses (the "elaasticity of effective demand" as it relates to the Quantity Theory of Money for example). WIth patience, plenty of revisiting the definitions of economic terms and careful deliberate thought, I was able to follow the gist of Keynes' General Theory. It made for slow going. Whether you agree (or not) with Keynes' theories have become as much a political exercise as an economic one, and are waters I'd rather not wade into here. In terms of the merits of the book, for the lay reader, you really have to want it to wade through it - it may be suprising at how poorly represented Keynes' ideas are represented in the popular imagination (for example, that Keynes supported deficit finance). That alone an incentive for giving _The General Theory_ a try.

This is a foundational book for anyone interested in the development of economics, particularly macroeconomics. This book, and Keynes more generally, was hugely influential on many of the policy decisions in the US and Britain during the first half the 20th century, and it (and he) continues to be influential today in a variety of forms. So-- good stuff, despite some of its more difficult sections.This edition is bunk, though. I think it's one of those quick-print versions where a publishing company takes a text available through public domain and prints you a copy when you order it. That's probably fine in itself, but this one is missing all of the footnotes, where (I hear!) Keynes conducts a lot of his argument with his contemporary economists. Page 81 even references them: "My running comments on the above [topic] have been made in the footnotes." But no footnotes!This particular edition is also large (~7.5"x10") with fairly small print, making a less than ideal physical reading experience. It's skinny, too, squeezing more than 400 pages worth of material into 167 pages. I don't know about you, but I really like being able to turn the pages more often than I can here. Turning makes me feel like I'm making progress.There is ample room in the margins and other white space for your own notes, though, which is a plus.

I learned more about economics in this one book than in all my other economics reading before, including two courses in college. I didn't understand it all, I didn't want to understand all that about the rate of interest, but I was shocked at Keyne's focus on employment, the propensity to consume, the multiplier, and so much more. I thrilled to see the arch of his argument, that the classical theory deals only with the special case of full employment, even assumes it. Actually, I read this twice, the first as part of The Essential Keynes, ed. Skidelsky. The excerpts were so good I wanted to read the whole thing. There's so much more to read. Next, Minsky.

The text was incredibly small with a 2 inch margin on the top of pages. The formatting on equations was unintelligible. This looks like an illegal reprinting of this book.

The paper back Stellar Editions is a large format, very small print, and has no footnotes.The "Look inside" is deceiving, I don't know why they use that illustration.Disappointing!

I don't care for Keynes' theory, but you have to read it if you want to understand government policy

Definitely well written, even for economic standards. Would recommend reading this to all citizens who wish to change their perceptions upon the great misunderstandings we are so prone to in economics. A must for students of economics and a prerequisite for entering politics.

I bought this because I thought it was full of vintage Marvel Comics covers - it was not. Instead it was full of marvel characters by various artists (not mainstream ones by the way) and most if them were extremely pixilated. Also, some of them were in there twice. The book didn't cost that much or I would have given it one star.

Do not buy, I bought this as a gift along with the DC comics coloring book and when i opened it, I was very displeased. The pictures are stolen off the internet and stretched out to fit the book, some where even pixelated. Don't waste your money on this crap, it may look like a good deal but you will me very disappointed once you see it.

I was hoping for more like an adult coloring book idea, or even a regular coloring book. The images in this book are badly pixelated and of very poor quality. I could have done better with a scanner and my home computer and printer!

The quality of this coloring book is varied. Some images are clear, crisp and perfect for coloring in. Others look like they've been blown up from a smaller size, are pixelated, and I could have printed better at home. I'm not thrilled with this product at all.

This coloring book was a little disappointing for us, it wasn't the quality that we are used to buying for coloring in.The pictures are really true to Marvel, the paper is thin and the prints are on both sides of the paper-which means depending on which type of pens, crayons you use it would show throughNot an adult coloring book but really good for kids-especially if they love the marvel super hero'sIt was bought as a gift and the recipient really loved it so I gave it 3 stars

I paid $7.00 for this, expecting the contents to B&W versions of famous marvel comic covers, what I got was not what I was expecting. The contents of said coloring book had not a single thing in common with it's cover, the only commonality was that there were in fact pictures of marvel characters to color in. That is the end of the compliments for this book. The quality control here is insulting to flea market bootlegs. Upon further inspection, this is in fact a bootleg, one of the worst I've ever seen. A grand total of thirty pages, with bad image stretching, empty pages, repeated images and pictures where you can clearly see they didn't even try to fill the page with the picture selected, encompassing the entire book. This is the single worst coloring book I have ever laid eyes on, and I hope my review prevents even one person from wasting hard earned dollars on this farce of a product, or even any more time on its sellers page. The only reason this product even gets a star in this review is because it requires one to submit it

I was so excited to get this. The paper quality for coloring with pencils is less than desirable. Many of the designs have blurry images like a small picture was expanded too big. Some of the same designs are repeated. Some of the images are very old designs. Just wish it was better so we could enjoy coloring our favorite characters.

Very thin coloring book, not worth buying if buying for an adult. The drawings also look more cartoony rather than comic book drawings. I returned it immediately.
