This book is amazing, if you are learning how to write about fashion, blog etc. It helps you be creative and draw attention to your articles and make every reader love it. Totally recommend it!!!

I bought this book last quarter for my own reading pleasure and then I was pleasantly surprised when it became required for a course I'm taking this quarter. It's a great, informative book, not your typical textbook. This is the lowest new price I've seen anywhere. I used it for one of my projects and it was a great source. An inspiring story of perseverance and the value of a "can do" attitude. Beautifully told and illustrated for the young reader, it encourages children to set their goals high regardless of the challenges they face. This remarkable man, born when Lincoln was president and still active when JFK was in office, made his mark in major league baseball. It's a marvelous biography thoughtfully crafted for children by an author who clearly found much to admire in this extraordinary man. A gem of a book!

This is a unique and special book on so many levels. It is entertaining to children and adults alike with the story of the incredible William Hoy a baseball player "who just happened to be deaf," and how he overcame this disability to be a star. It is the story of a time in history that children should learn about and appreciate. The telling of the story is compelling along with colorful and outstanding illustrations to emphasize the plot. Finally the author has included a summary for adults about Hoy's story and a timeline for history buffs. Librarians, teachers, parents, children and baseball fans can all enjoy this story of a very important but little known baseball player. I look forward to more stories from this author!

I absolutely love this book, and all the children in my life love it also. Nancy Churnin is a master storyteller when it comes to important non-fiction stories. Although I am a big baseball fan and was amazed to learn that many of the baseball signs originated with William Hoy, you don't need to be a baseball fan to enjoy this. You just need to be a fan of wonderful, well written stories!

Heartwarming. From the moment that William picked up that ball in the beginning of the book all the way through till the crowd is giving the silent applause; I was hooked. This story appeals to the sports lover, the underdog, the indomitable attitude, or any child facing adversity.

Wonderfully written and delightfully illustrated, my ten year old baseball star loved it. Story is well sculpted and the character well developed. I should like to have seen a little more about the authorities acceptance or resistance to the use of signs and signals. This is an outstanding read for any child.

What a great story to be told! I had no idea about William Hoy until now. Read it to my children, and they absolutely loved it. I absolutely loved it! I recently read this to my 5th and 6th grade students. Same response. Brought up many things to discuss---baseball, sign language, perseverance, treating people unkindly, etc. Churnin is a wonderful narrative nonfiction writer, and I can't wait to read more of her books.

I read a review of this book in the Dallas Morning News. I had never heard of William Hoy. One of my grandsons is a real baseball fan, even at 10 years of age., so I ordered us both a copy. It is a great story and we both enjoyed it. I reviewed it at a Book Club meeting. Several others ordered their own copies. We were all inspired!

I've enjoyed reading this with my two young children, and they often pick it out for bed-time reading. Great fun learning about a unique part of baseball history while also cheering for William Hoy as his story unfolds.

That as the title may limit its appeal to many potential readers.)There is a lot of information in this book, and much of it totally new and foreign to folks who have no familiarity with the whole "how what you eat impacts your brain and gut" school of thought. But the nine chapters are easy to read and worth the time if you want to improve the quality of your overall health, but particularly your digestive tract.A part of me is not all that interested in the science and the dynamics. I believe it. To me it is the practical advice (such as reviewing various probiotic products) that I read most carefully (You may, like myself, find yourself skipping around the book.).The chapters that immediately got my attention were Six: Discovering psychobiotics and Seven: Your Personal Psychobiotic Journey. Chapter 8: Psychobiotics and Today's Major Diseases is a real wake-up call for many and you may want to read this first if you are not yet aware of how what you eat truly affects your body--and you need some incentive to read the whole book.In case you, too, were unfamiliar with the term "Psychobiotics" it means (per the very useful Glossary): "These are microbes that, taken in sufficient quantities, yield positive psychiatric effects and can improve mental health, including depression and anxiety.")To me, perhaps the most relevant content was the discussion of probiotics. The doctors I've encountered know next to nothing about them (and do not seem inclined to research further) how these microbes can improve our health. The Appendix contains information on "Proven Probiotic Bacteria and Products" and to me, this alone made the book worth my time to read.Sections with References, Further Reading suggestions and footnotes are very helpful and relevant.Can I attest that everything we read here is accurate from a science perspective? No, but I can say that what I've read so far seems in line with related topic books by doctors.The book's subtitle sums it up: "Mood, Food and the New Science of the Gut-Brain Connection."If you've ever had any GI tract issues, suffer from depression or anxiety, this is a very good way to begin the path to better choices and better health.

For a nice guy, Jack Noble has serious enemies! Moving from state to state, town to town, Jack is always uneasy; he doesn't want to interact with anyone. Then his jeep breaks down near a small town and Jack is given a ride and room to stay in by an older man, who cryptically warns him not to stay in this small town in New Mexico. There are so many reasons I love this latest Jack Noble book. There is a story included of Jack's childhood, which explains a lot about how Jack became the amazing soldier he is. You will find the usual great suspense, fast moving prose, violence against the bad guys, and even a little romance. Jack's character is reminiscent of Lee Child's "Reacher" character, but the writing and storyline by Author, L.T. Ryan, is much better!

I enjoyed the Jack Noble Series until I came to Book 9, which was complicated with too many subplots and characters. The confusion was greatly amplified in many places where the characters names were wrong as well as the gender of the personal pronouns, e.g.,“he” was used where “she” belonged and vice versa.Now, Book10 didn’t suffer so much from these problems, and the book switched back and forth between two stories, one in the present day and the other when Jack was a young boy, which was a very enjoyable style.However, there were continual defeats of the present-day Jack.The author should have broken up all these back-to-back dismal failures by an occasional win. The failures also included a detailed description of the young Jack’s inability to prevent his sister’s death, which earlier books in the series had mentioned but not described.At the ending the author finally threw in a win for the present-day Jack in order to continue the series with a principal character who was alive. But even this was a close call where Jack barely managed to prevail with a lucky break. And, for the first time, the author finally indicated what Jack had been up against all along, more or less. Then Jack loses his lover and ends up in the hands of an old enemy.Joy, joy, joy.In brief, you might consider skipping Book 10 unless you would enjoy 338 pages of Jack’s continual defeats. Indeed, I’ll be very leery of Book 11.Martin Fricke, Ph.D.San Diego.

for Jack Noble to be advertised as some kind of a super agent he sure has declined over time, not by age but by Ryan's writing, into the preverbial punching bag. I've read all the Noble books in order and they all seem to be getting further and further away from his being an elite fighting machine with this one being the best example of his lack of skill. Running away, getting knocked out, shot, captured, surprised, hiding all the while having an endless supply of luck and coincidence, as always, on his side. I'll stick it out until the end of the series, only two more, but the story-line and Noble's reputation have gotten old and worn. He should be more of a Reacher/Seagal type based on the hype Ryan tries to sell rather than a Karate Kid that gets pummeled the entire movie but comes out on top at the end. And as always seems to be behind again leading into the next book, kind of like the Walking Dead does.

A must read for action adventure enthusiasts! If you enjoyed the Noble books you are sure in for another thrill ride, if not then try out the first Jack Noble book at no cost to start your adventure!This is yet another Ryan book I had trouble putting down, I was up late most nights until the book ended and I let off craving more!Jack is an assassin for hire with a soft side. That side is tucked away during most of his missions but comes front and center when dealing with innocence, friends and most coworkers. The action keeps the book moving and the emtional connections keep the book interesting. Definitely another great read by Ryan.

Jack Reacher has been a hero of mind since Lee Child introduced him in 1997. Now we have another reluctant hero to live vicariously through exciting adventures - Jack Noble. The L.T. Ryan "Jack Noble" series differs in many ways from Child's tales of a wandering hero. Noble is crossing the country to escape a very real threat, not only to himself but his family. His adventures, albeit reluctantly per sued, are thrilling, complex, and introduce great supporting characters. It's a fun read, and deals with issues we all could easily run in to. Enjoy the ride, I certainly did!

I read the very first Nobel books. I have to say that they were good but not impressive. I got this one on special sale a few days ago. I've become very jaded about books as I am an extreme reader and won't read a book that isn't well written. I was happily surprised when I started reading. It is well written, held my interest, iNteresting characters and lots of action. Best of all, it felt real and not just words thrown together to take up space without researching a bit to see if it could realistically be done...Great job Mr. Ryan. I think I'll be reading more of your books

Novels o n the drift and happens to breakdown in the town where Detective Sweeney is in Dee Eric protective custody, to much of a coincidence,but anyway the town has secrets an Jack can't stay out of them. He even finds out w hi o killed his sister Molley, another coincidence. But I'm not complaining, the story is tight, fast and pushes Jack to th he ledge. But Jack doesn't fall, he just o pushes everyone else off.

No suprise that the latest entry in the Jack Noble series is excellent. Hasnt been a poor one yet. This installment finds Jack awandering cross country just trying to stay low. However, since its Jack that doesnt last long. Some old names pop up and we get a thorough filling in on past events from the noble family that give us some serious insight into why Jack is and what shapes him in many ways. Overall another great entertaining volume featuring Jack Noble, one of the best action novel characters going today. Buy it if you like Bourne, Reacher or any similar characters.
